Easily tap subconscious mind power Posted on March 21 The book Mind Power into the 21st century, is a number one bestseller. I think this is because today people know so much more about the mind and are looking for ways to easily tap subconscious mind power. John Kehoe reveals the role our minds play in constructing reality, meaning that we can choose to live more creatively and powerfully. He describes how we live simultaneously in two worlds, an inner one of thoughts, emotions and attitudes and an outer one of people, places, things and events. A major part of who we are lies within our inner world and so we have to learn how to pay attention to our thoughts and develop a new consciousness. This is the only way to change our reality. Consciousness Kehoe believes that the more a thought is repeated, the more energy and power it generates and illustrates this with the image of a magnifying glass. If it is moved about from spot to spot, the rays are diffused but if it is focused, the rays are concentrated and are powerful enough to start a fire. Visualization and Seeding Kehoe describes visualization as using your imagination to see yourself in situations that haven’t yet happened. It’s like creating little video clips or films. Precise visualization is when exact scene or images are imagined, whereas free flowing visualization allows positive images to come and go. It is important to practice as the power comes in the repetition. You need to do this at least once a day. He describes seeding as like adding a soundtrack to the video clip but using feelings instead of words. You have to imagine the physical sensations that come with accomplishment and do this daily in five-minute bursts of energy. Kehoe suggests that you shout for joy, leap up and down or do whatever it takes to express that feeling of victory. Affirmations and acknowledgement Affirmations have been used for centuries in spiritual practices. Today they are used by people from all walks of life for many purposes. They are basically simple statements, repeated silently or aloud. It does not matter where or when you say them. Kehoe says it is better to keep these statements as simple, short and easy to say as possible. ‘I feel calm and relaxed’ or ‘I am a creative person’ is sufficient. Even two words like ‘record sales ‘ is enough. You have to learn how to pat yourself on the back for your past and present victories, no matter how small. Recognize the skills you have already developed and recall praise you have been given. Making a list of your good qualities and lingering on successes you already have, helps you to start attracting success. The subconscious mind I like the analogy Kehoe uses too help understand how the conscious and subconscious mind work together. He says that the conscious mind is like the gardener. The subconscious mind is the fertile soil and it accepts whatever seeds the gardener plants. The gardener has to be careful of what he chooses and what he allows to grow in the inner garden. Intuition and Dreams Kehoe regards Intuitive ability as a muscle that has to be exercised. You need to learn how to pay attention to your hunches and feelings as well as to your dreams. You not only have to pay attention to them but to trust them and act on them. The meeting of the conscious and subconscious mind happens in your dreams. Many scientists struggling with problems first dreamed of the solutions before working them out in reality. One of the most well known examples is of Nobel Prize-winner, Dr James Watson, whose dream of intertwining snakes lead to his discoveries about the molecular construction of DNA as a double helix. Dreams are like a forgotten language that you have to study and learn to interpret. Reality, Concentration and Contemplation Squeeze an eyedropper full of red dye into a large bowl of water and you don’t notice the effect. However, if you continue to add a drop into the water every day, the color gradually changes from clear to pale pink, to deep rose, and finally to brilliant red. I think this is an excellent illustration to describe that change is a cumulative process. You will eventually begin to see the effect of your consistent daily efforts. It takes effort and willpower to direct the mind. Beliefs, imprinting and self-image Once your subconscious mind has accepted a belief or idea, whether it is true or not, it will keep feeding you thoughts to support that belief. You need to toss out self-limiting and self-defeating beliefs. One way to help us to do this is to write them down and write down more supportive beliefs next to them. You then need to Imprint the more supportive ones. This is done in much the same way as you used to learn your multiplication tables – consistent practice. You will become whatever you consistently believe about yourself. You need to regularly reinforce your self image with the belief that you are unique, you can do anything and you have unlimited power. Creativity This was one of the chapters I found most enlightening due to my own limiting beliefs about my creativity. From an early age, I was labelled as the academic in the family and my two sisters were thought of as the creative, practical ones. Kehoe believes that we have all have incredible creativity within us and that all we have to do is awaken it. He gives six creative tactics that you can use to awaken your creativity. Be an explorer Actively venture off the beaten path, seek out new ideas, do not be afraid of the unknown. Ask questions Why am I doing this job? I wonder what would happen if I stopped watching television. What habit, if adopted and practiced every day, would revolutionize my life? Get lots of ideas Never just accept the first idea you come up with but train yourself to explore all options. Avoid the one-solution, one-answer approach. Break rules – break habits Don’t be afraid to stir things up and break away from your normal routines. When the dust settles, you’ll be better off. Use your imagination Imagine how others would do it. Pick a role model and imagine this person in your position. Imagine this person conversing with you and advising you. Fill the well Think fun not duty. Nurture yourself and replenish your resources. Take time our for contemplation and reassessment. No problems, only opportunities The attitude to have to a problem is that it is trying to tell you something. Find out what opportunity is being presented to you and make every situation serve you. Healing, prosperity consciousness and fulfilling relationships These three chapters speak about the effect of your thoughts on your body, your wealth and your relationships. You have to remind yourself often that your body is a miraculous healing mechanism. When it comes to prosperity consciousness, five steps are given to deal with scarcity consciousness. You have to believe that you live in an abundant universe, life is fun and rewarding, there are staggering numbers of opportunities in every aspect of your life and it is your responsibility to be successful. Success never takes away from others, but rather, creates success for and helps others. In relationships, as you change your thoughts towards people, they change towards you and you attract the relationships you desire. My Conclusion: Is it really that easy to change your reality? In a way it is easy because the principles are available and there is proof that they do do work. John Kehoe tells the story of how he was living in a small cabin in the woods with no electricity and no running water. He began programming his mind for prosperity when he was living in deep poverty. He became extremely successful and prosperous. What is not as easy is to consistently apply the principles until your mind is reprogrammed. I think it is a question of how much you really want change in your life. If you do, you start paying attention to your thought processes and find the discipline to work on them until you develop a new consciousness. Just getting started on WA. I love reading personal development books and those by John Kehoe sound like they are among the best. Will order the one described above. Normally I still by and like the hardcover edition, but does appear to be one in this case so will go with the e-book version. Thanks so much for introducing the author to me. I hope to see and internalize more of your writing and training. Reply
